Exclusive Interview of the Day – Nikolay Andreev

Nikolay Andreev is a Russian mathematician, popularizer of mathematics, the creator of the project “Mathematical Etudes”.

Nikolay Andreev has created the site “Mathematical Etudes”, where non-fiction stories about modern problems of mathematics and various mathematical subjects are visualized; in an original way he continues the work on popularizing modern mathematics of his predecessors, from Perelman to Arnold. In 2010 he received the Prize of the President of the Russian Federation in the field of science and innovation for young scientists “for high results in the creation of innovative educational technologies, popularization and dissemination of scientific knowledge” for his work.

In 2017, he was awarded the Gold Medal of the Russian Academy of Sciences for outstanding achievements in the field of promoting scientific knowledge, particularly for creating the website “Mathematical Etudes”, where non-fiction stories about modern problems of mathematics are posted, and various mathematical subjects are visualized.

Exclusive interview with Nikolay Andreev will be held on 27rd September at 12:00 (UTC) in Zoom.

Title: “Mathematics in perception».

We are used to consider mathematics as a source of beautiful abstraction. But in this lecture the goal is to perceive mathematics not only with our brain but with our eyes also. We will use visual models to discuss mathematical facts and theorems.
